Dr. D’s Ultra BioTurmeric: Q & A

Do you have questions about our turmeric?!

Here are some answers to the most common questions we receive from customers and patients.

We hope it helps!

What does turmeric help with?

Turmeric is an ancient spice used in Ayurvedic medicine as a treatment for inflammatory conditions for centuries. Turmeric is one of nature’s most powerful anti-inflammatories and antioxidants! Research has now confirmed that daily consumption of turmeric can: Support cardiovascular health Support the immune system Support gut health Relieve pain associated with joint and muscle inflammation Have liver protective activity Regulate blood sugar levels Modulate PSA levels in males Have neuroprotective activity (meaning it promotes brain health and helps to prevent conditions such as Alzheimer’s/Dementia and Parkinson’s) Turmeric in its raw form is poorly absorbed by the gut. It would take a lot of turmeric consumption over years to ensure you are receiving all of its extraordinary health benefits; which is why it is now recommended to take turmeric in supplement form.

Can everyone take turmeric?

Most people can take a daily turmeric supplement. However, you should not begin supplementation if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or have digestive issues such as stomach ulcers, gallstones, bile duct obstruction or increased stomach acid. If you do notice any discomfort associated with your supplement intake, stop use and consult your healthcare provider. Always thoroughly read and follow directions on the label.

What does 100% turmeric root nutrition mean?

Curcuminoids, compounds extracted from the turmeric root, are important nutrients. Curcumin is the most important curcuminoid as it contains the greatest amount of medicinal properties; however, it only comprises about 3% of the entire turmeric root! Our research has shown that there are actually over 200 other powerful nutrients in the turmeric root in addition to curcumin!

Our technology entails the extraction of curcumin PLUS over 200 other highly beneficial nutrients which are preserved and re-packaged inside of the complete natural turmeric matrix.

Our turmeric supplement therefore not only encompasses turmeric’s most famous component, curcumin, but the ENTIRE ROOT as well…providing 100% turmeric root nutrition.

When should I take the turmeric?

We recommend taking the turmeric daily with meals. Always thoroughly read and follow directions on the label.

How many capsules should I take?

The recommended dosage for general health and wellness in adults is one (1) capsule twice daily. For treatment of chronic pain or inflammation, the recommended dosage is two (2) capsules, twice daily. Always thoroughly read and follow directions on the label.

If it is for pain relief, why can’t I just take it when I am in pain?

Although many patients have found quick relief from taking turmeric when in pain, it is not meant to be taken as an instant pain reliever such as ibuprofen. Instead, it is meant to be part of a regular wellness routine as there are benefits outside of pain management that require regular dosing to obtain optimal effects (see the answer to question 1 for information on the benefits of turmeric). Moreover, our revolutionary turmeric supplement has been clinically proven to remain in the bloodstream for up to 24 hours, so it is working around the clock to fight inflammation and pain. This means it does not only work to relieve acute (or short-term bouts of) pain, but it is continually acting to keep pain at bay. Always thoroughly read and follow directions on the label.

How long does it take to see the effects of turmeric supplementation?

The amount of time required before pain is relieved while taking turmeric will vary. Some patients have noted improvement in pain within days and even hours, but generally (depending on how many capsules per day you are taking, how frequently, and your personal health) you will likely start to see results within 4 to 6 weeks. Turmeric is not meant to be taken as an instant pain reliever such as ibuprofen. Instead, it is meant to be part of a regular wellness routine as there are benefits outside of pain management that require regular dosing to obtain optimal effects. Always thoroughly read and follow directions on the label.

What are the side effects of turmeric supplementation?

As with any medication, turmeric supplementation can have side effects. Turmeric naturally lowers blood pressure and therefore should be used with caution if you already experience low blood pressure as it may cause light headedness. Since it is a spice, some patients with gastrointestinal issues have reported mild GI upset with turmeric use. Talk to your health care provider before beginning turmeric, especially if you have a medical condition. Always thoroughly read and follow directions on the label.

What medicines cannot be taken with turmeric?

Turmeric is a natural blood thinner and therefore should not be taken by any individual on a blood thinning or antiplatelet medication. It should also not be taken if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or have gastrointestinal issues. Always consult with your healthcare provider before beginning supplementation to ensure that it will not interact with any of your current medications. Always thoroughly read and follow directions on the label.

There are tons of turmeric supplements on the market. Why should I take Dr. D’s Ultra BioTurmeric?

Turmeric is very well known for “curcumin.” Turmeric and curcumin are often used interchangeably and are a source of common confusion. It is important to sort out any confusion before answering this question. Turmeric is an ancient spice that comes from the Curcuma longa plant. Curcuminoids, compounds extracted from the turmeric root, are important nutrients. Curcumin is the most important curcuminoid as it contains the greatest amount of medicinal properties. Curcumin is therefore a very special component of the entire turmeric root but it is indeed not the same thing as turmeric.

What most people do not know is that curcumin only comprises 3 percent of the entire turmeric root! There are over 200 other disease-fighting compounds of the root… compounds that are missing from any turmeric product that does not comprise the whole root. Lastly, consuming the raw or whole turmeric root itself is great but is notoriously not absorbed well by the human gut (which is why proper supplementation is recommended).

Dr. D’s Ultra BioTurmeric is a full spectrum turmeric supplement, meaning that it contains curcumin PLUS the other 200+ powerful nutrients. If you are only taking curcumin, or are on a supplement that does not state that it is a full spectrum turmeric, you may be missing out on some of the health benefits.

Plus, our turmeric has been clinically proven to remain in the bloodstream for up to 24 hours and has 14 times greater absorption compared to standard curcumin.

Dr. D’s Ultra BioTurmeric has also been clinically proven to lower blood markers for inflammation (ie. CRP, ESR and RF) and to decrease the subjective reports of pain in patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis, at a dose as low as 250mg twice daily!
